So my son has taken quite a liking to snakes and would like to get one as a pet. Of course my wife is having none of it. She doesn't relish the thought of finding the snake under her pillow or slithering over her feet when she tucks in for the night. So it's safe to say that we won't be getting any snakes in the near future or the distant future for that matter...She did say that a new diamond ring would definitely make her more amenable to the 'possibilty' of owning a snake. Next stop, jewellers...

I am convinced that Julius Malema is bloody idiot. Sure he may have mastered the use of publicity, but he’s an idiot nonetheless. He is a law unto himself and he boldly goes forth poisoning the minds of the uneducated, directionless followers who support him. A day after the senseless killing of Eugene Terr'blanche, there was Julius, still in Zimbabwe, singing first 'Umshini wami" and then "shoot the boer". His excuse is and I quote The Star newspaper; "We sing the song to remember the fallen heroes of the country. We are children of freedom fighters, not children of cowards. We are not in the revolution to impress anybody." What is he talking about?
I think he should get his head out of his ass and see that the future we want for our country, is not one where we keep dredging up the past.
I am so sick and tired of everything being blamed on Apartheid. And here I was thinking we'd moved on from that. From where I am standing 1994 seems a very long time ago...
The past should remain there. Malema should stop living in the past and talking about things he has no direct knowledge or experience of. I am sure he is fully aware of what the singing of that song is doing in our country.
What I am most appalled at however, is this vow of silence that President Zuma has adopted. He was absolutely everywhere post election, yet, since then, he has taken a huge step back. He is in danger of being forgotten about. Now if we could just get that bloody Malema to take a vow of silence...mmmm.
Then I think to myself, what a wonderful world.....

I had the most pleasant surprise today, when, as apposed to the usual 2 hour wait to have my motorbike licence renewed, the entire process took less than 30 minutes. I feel a change is in the air. I know it's very difficult to stay positive when we're beset with many different challenges, but having said that, it's a positive outlook on life that will make the road less bumpy and the destination that much more rewarding.
